Green Drinks: January 25

Chattanooga History Center

We have a plethora of pre-owned metal filing cabinets in our warehouse. We usually have a variety of lateral files in stock, ranging from 30″ to 48″ wide in 6″ increments, from 2-drawers to 5-drawers high. Our vertical files are typically less versatile. We usually have some 4-drawers and 5-drawers. Our stock usually has mostly light grey, putty, and beige, but occasionally we’ll have black or dark grey.

Clean & Green

Businesses big and small will take ownership of downtown Chattanooga by providing volunteers on a quarterly basis to help keep the downtown area clean.

Volunteers will canvass downtown to assist in the cleaning up the city. We will aid in the collection of litter, pressure-washing sidewalks, and reporting graffiti, broking windows, and vandalism. We will also help to beautify downtown Chattanooga by planting flowers and trees, taking care of existing green vegetation, and pruning existing trees. Clean and Green volunteer teams will cover the Northshore, Riverfront, Central Business District, MLK/University, and Southside districts of downtown.

The Clean & Green Event was a huge success in the month of April, so don’t throw away your cleaning gloves yet. The next clean up is scheduled for September 10th, 2011. We will keep you posted as more details are released or click here to visit the website.

Rather than squirming in your seat late in the day, give your back a rest by standing for a short time. Conference tables are available with laminate tops (more durable) and veneer tops (more elegant). Conference can be 6′ long for small conference rooms or offices up to 16′ for much larger spaces. We typically determine how many people a conference table will seat by the length of the table. For instance, if you need to seat 8 people in the conference room, you’ll need an 8′ table.

Task lights are necessary to illuminate worksurfaces to eliminate eye strain. OCI offers a wide selection of task lights. We often purchase them from the vendor if we’re doing a new installation. If we’re adding to an existing layout of workstations or installing remanufactured systems, we’ll often purchase task lights from Systematix.

Systematix offers Deluxe Standard Task Lights. They come in both 24″, 36″, and 48″ wide versions. They attach under any surface, such as a shelf in a cubicle. The lights come in black with a prismatic acrylic lens.

This vendor also offers swing arm and panel-mounted task lights. They have 27″ of horizontal reach and 19″ of vertical reach with three adjustable points. They come in a charcoal color.

Keyboard Trays

At OCI, we offer many different versions of keyboard trays. We have some very basic ones, on which you set your keyboard and it slides out from under a worksurface. We also have more advanced versions that raise and lower and tilt and have supportive materials for wrists, along with an additional platform for the mouse that swivels. And then, as you can imagine, we offer everything in between.

Systematix is one of our favorite vendors to order keyboard trays from. They are made of sturdy construction with anti-skid grip strips on the bottom. They have built-in mouse guards with cable management and gel palm rests for added comfort. You can also pair these keyboard platforms with extended arms.

Our favorite extended arm that Systematix offers is the Lever Free Extended Dial Arm. They maximize range of motion and user comfort, and they are easy to operate. The patented Lift-n-Lock system makes it easy to adjust with no knobs or levers. The 360 degree swivel allows the user to move the keyboard freely from side to side. The low profile and adjustability allows for maximum leg room and is ADA compliant.

OCI attended the Eco Expo at the Chattanooga Convention Center for the 3rd consecutive year. For our booth, we created a “Used vs. New Furniture Challenge”. We offer a variety of pedestal files. We have quite a few File/Files (2 file drawers) and also plenty of Box Box Files (2 smaller drawers with a file drawer at the bottom). We have a lot of different color metal files available and some wood files. Some are stationary, but some are on casters for ease of mobility.
